Our Story
Art is where culture, ideas, and expression intersect. It is where barriers are broken down to create a dialogue between ideas. How the past meets the present and informs the future. How people of all walks can communicate in an open forum on equal grounds. Art is an avenue, a conduit, a path to a more inclusive society.
Texture (Columbus, Indiana) is a collective dedicated to discovery and creativity, connections and reunion, education and adventure; a hub where people, art, and inspiration meet.
We are made of community builders who spark conversation, knowing that art can serve as a common denominator and catalyst.
We are multidisciplinary, from first-time artists, to novices, to experienced professionals, welcoming all ages and walks of life.
And we are gracious hosts – purposeful, thoughtful, and memorable – using art as a medium to bring people together and to make it accessible to all who seek it – so they may experience, explore, express, exchange, and engage with everything that art has to offer and to ultimately make our community stronger and a better place to live.
Our work will span the realms of contemporary art, performance, film, placemaking, community and civic engagement, and public life. Centering artists as essential to social and cultural movement, we are working to reimagine and reinvent the role an arts institution can play in the community it serves.
Our hope is for a vibrant community in which innovative, inclusive, and diverse cultural experiences and art-making inspire the creative exchange of ideas. Recognizing the needs of a community arts and cultural hub must serve the needs of an entire community, we preserve, embrace, and challenge the role art plays without formal boundaries.
Your support at this time means so much to us and we invite you to join a community of art lovers, advocates and changemakers.
If you would live to get involved with the work that we do by volunteering, spit-balling, connecting, creating, advocating, or making a gift of any amount to strive toward our mission of generating a culture that moves people, please contact art@texturein.org.
